About

In Oktober 2025, Prof. Jos van Strijp will retire. To honour his contributions to science and education, the I&I PhD program is organizing a farewell symposium.

The symposium is divided into four parts, and you can register for each part separately.
These parts include the morning program, lunch, the afternoon program, and the closing reception.

Morning Program
Beyond the Bench – Exploring Careers in and Beyond Science

The symposium starts with a program specially curated for MSc students, PhD candidates, and postdocs with a focus on career development. Former PhD students of Prof. Van Strijp will share their career paths and current positions, both within academia and beyond.

Afternoon Program
A Biological Tug of War – Host-Pathogen Interaction Studies in Utrecht

Following lunch, we shift focus to the heart of infection biology. In this scientific tribute, international researchers will spotlight Prof. Van Strijp’s scientific legacy and the lasting influence of his work on the field of infection biology.
